A truck driver in North Carolina plans to use his newfound earnings to help those he loves after winning the Powerball drawing late last month.
The North Carolina man received his $150,000 prize on Friday, 30th October after winning the 21st October Powerball drawing.
The man says he purchased his ticket but didn’t expect anything to come of it.
“I just did not expect it,” he said to NC Lottery Officials.
His ticket beat the 1 in 913,000 odds by matching four of the white balls and the red Powerball, winning him $50,000. But it didn’t stop there. Shortly thereafter, a 3X multiplier was drawn, tripling the trucker’s earnings and leaving him with a grand total of $150,000.
“It was a great thing,” he said.
After state and federal taxes, the trucker was able to bring home $106,126, which he says will be put to good use.
“This money will help the people I love the most,” he said. “And it will help me with my retirement.”
