A man from Michigan nearly threw away the ticket of a lifetime while he was out to eat with his family recently. The lucky winner was at a local Steakhouse when he got the urge to play the Lottery.
“I was eating dinner with my family and went to use the restroom,” said the player, who chose to remain anonymous. “The ticket machine caught my eye on the way back to the table, so I got a couple tickets.
“We were wrapping up, so I scratched them pretty fast and thought they were all losers and tossed them to the side. Something told me to look at them again and I couldn’t believe my eyes when I saw a $1 million winner.”
The winner recently claimed his prize at Michigan Lottery headquarters. With his winnings, he plans to buy a new home and help his father start a business.
The last player from Michigan to win a Mega Millions or Powerball jackpot won $70 million playing Powerball in February. With her winnings, she said she planned to buy a new house and car.
As the festive season approaches, we advise all ticket holders to remember the words of a certain red-clothed gentleman: “He’s making a list, he’s checking it twice!” Wise words indeed, Santa.
